Living Archives MovieLamps
Giving
new life to beautiful pieces of movie Americana, MacLamps Inc. introduces
Living Archives MovieLamps. Authentic pieces of movie hardware
from the early decades of the 20th century, these projectors are
wonderful examples of American design and workmanship that have
been transformed into distinctive lamps for the table or desk.
Using
a patented conversion and adaptor, the projectors are converted
into lamps without affecting the integrity of the projector's original
finish, structure, or mechanism. They are, and will be for years
to come, fully functioning motion picture projectors.

For
anyone with precious family history recorded on movie film, these
are important machines. For movie buffs, or those interested in
the history of our country's fascination with motion pictures, these
machines represent the advent of bringing recorded moving images
into the home. They were the precursors to today's multi-media marvel
known as the "home theater system". These early, pedestal-style
projectors were the cornerstone in the foundation of the original
home theater.
Finished
Living Archives MovieLamps become dual-function artifacts,
operating as either uniquely beautiful table lamps or motion picture
projectors, and easily converting back and forth between functions.

It
is the expressed intention of MacLamps Inc., through its Living
Archives line of MovieLamps and conversion kits, to create
Living Archives to preserve these projectors whose practicality
may have been eclipsed by the economy and convenience of video,
but whose utility -- in terms of image quality and simplicity of
image retrieval - has the potential to outlast the evolving technologies
of present and future video formats.
Our
prices are introductory prices that MacLamps Inc. will strive to
maintain for as long as possible. But, due to the finite supply
of pedestal-style projectors, the last of which were produced in
the 1960s, it is anticipated that these prices will rise as demand
exceeds a limited supply.
